Cystic Acne

Cystic acne is easily described as a cyst-like infection deep under the skin which can occur constantly, intermittently or in a regular cycle (sometimes linked to a woman’s menstrual cycle). The cause of teen cystic acne and adult cystic acne is normally hormone related, and occurs when the skin's oil gland (Sebaceous Gland) over-produces sebum on a massive scale, which floods the gland itself, and unable to push all of the sebum into the hair follicle, it bursts and causes inflammation.
